Yoga Fundamentals

Yoga Fundamentals is designed for the student brand new to yoga or new to Iyengar Yoga. You will be introduced to alignment principles in basic standing and sitting poses. Students often elect to take more than one session at this level to reinforce their learning. If you have had prior yoga experience and are not sure if this is the right level for you, please contact Cindy.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga is designed for the student who desires or would benefit from a more slowly paced class with the opportunity to practice more preparatory stages of poses, often with the use of more props.  Typically, there are more restorative poses at the end of each class.  This class is appropriate for Seniors, stiffer students, students with injuries or health conditions, or those students simply those wishing for a gentler class.

Level I Yoga

Students at this level should have at least 6 months of prior yoga experience or have the teacher’s permission. Basics will be reinforced and new poses, including simple inversions (and inversion alternatives) are introduced and practiced. It is not uncommon to practice at this level for a number of years.

Level II/III Yoga

Students at this level have a firm understanding of yoga posture fundamentals and alignment principles and are ready to deepen and integrate their practice.  In this class, students will learn and practice new and more advanced poses. Headstand (Salamba Sirsasana) and Shoulder stand (Salamba Sarvangasana) and variations will be taught regularly.

Serious Students/Aspiring and Current Teachers

This class is designed for serious students, students interested in teaching and teachers who want to deepen their understanding of the subject of yoga, including pranayama and yoga philosophy.  Permission from the teacher is required.  (Please contact Cindy to be placed on Waitlist).
